For a deliciously sweet and equally healthy breakfast option, these sweet Banana Breakfast Cookies are the way to go. They’re the perfect grab-and-go morning meal. They also make the most amazing dessert post lunch or dinner. Basically, they’re the perfect cookie to have anytime and always!

Delicious and easy banana breakfast cookies

Let’s keep things real and honest on here. I crave sweet things 100% of the day. It could be 8 AM and I’m already trying to figure out the appropriate time to eat something sweet. The answer is: it’s always acceptable to eat something sweet.

Sometimes I wake up and I’ve decided that the usual go-to breakfast options are not what I’m craving today. These are things like pancakes, waffles, cereal, the basics! That is exactly what happened when this recipe was created. I woke up craving sweets, and the banana breakfast cookie was born.

These healthy and sweet banana breakfast cookies are exactly what I needed during my morning sugar craving. They’re sweet and delicious, but they’re made with oatmeal and contain nutrient-rich ingredients. They’re the perfect way to fuel your morning!

The next time you find yourself reaching for the pancake mix, opt for this healthy (but equally delicious) option instead!

Kitchen tools used in this recipe

You won’t need a long list of kitchen items to create this recipe. The five items listed below should do the trick!

  • Baking sheet

  • Baking paper

  • Mixing bowl

  • Mixing utensil

  • Ice cream scooper (optional)

How to make banana breakfast cookies

Making banana breakfast cookies is just like making any other cookie recipe. You’ll need to do a bit of mixing and baking. When all is said and done, you’ll have a delicious batch of breakfast cookies perfect for any day of the week.

To start, preheat the oven to 350F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In your mixing bowl, mash your two ripe bananas until there are no larger chunks. Add in the applesauce and maple syrup and mix super well.

Add in the dry ingredients, the oats, the almond flour, and the baking soda and mix super well to form your cookie batter.

Measure out about 1/3 – 1/2 cup chocolate chips (depends on how chocolaty you like your cookies) and pour them into the batter. Mix the chocolate chips into the batter well.

Chill the batter in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. This step is super important as it will help give the cookies their shape and make them easier to mold.

Using an ice cream scooper, or a spoon, measure out about 12 cookies and place them on a baking sheet. Top each cookie with a sprinkle of chocolate chips and gently press them into the tops of the cookies

Bake the cookies for about 30 minutes or until perfectly golden brown. Chill, and enjoy! Top these with a sprinkle of sea salt for a little extra flavor!

Add in options

If you find yourself wanting a little more out of your breakfast cookie, consider adding these ingredients to spice them up and add more crunch or flavor!

  • Raisins: Add these into the batter or press them right on top.

  • Chopped nuts: options include chopped pecans, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, or cashews!

  • Cinnamon: I feel like banana and cinnamon go hand in hand! Add a dash of cinnamon for that amazing burst of flavor.

  • Coconut: sprinkle coconut flakes on top for an extra sweet flavor
