Hi it’s Chen! You may know me as Chen’s Plate. I am a twenty-something healthy living lover with a passion for baking, cooking, and yoga. I currently live in Dunwoody, Georgia, but Atlanta for those of y’all that don’t know where Dunwoody is.
I graduated from the University of Georgia with an art education degree and immediately begin a career as an art teacher in the elementary school setting.
Little history: my focus on health hasn’t always come easy. I started the college life having a little too much fun; I gained way more than that freshman fifteen that everyone fears. I was diagnosed with Crohns halfway through college, but I never made any steps to cure my body. I relied on heavy medications to live a normal day to day life. So at this point, I was feeling like my worst self, inside and out, and I had no idea how to change it.
During my senior year, I decided I needed to hit the gym and lose weight. I had a goal weight in mind, but no real plan to achieve my goals. I started going to the gym every day, eating very minimally, and overall just pushing my body way more than I should have. I started my original Instagram: chinups.with.chen to motivate myself and hold myself accountable to a few friends. I had no intention of ever sharing my account to anyone else.
Little by little I discovered the wonderful world of health and wellness. I began to understand that I needed to treat my body with respect and love in order to be the best version of myself. I found my passion for all things food and recipe creation and I can finally say that I am on the right path to fulfillment and good health.
As of February 4th, 2019 I am officially Chen’s Plate. I have re-branded in order to really show off what I’m really about. I want to continue sharing all the amazing gluten, dairy, and soy free recipes that I love making, but I also want to share my tips and tricks to finding happiness in life, love, and all your pursuits. I definitely don’t have all the answers, but I hope I can help in any way.
Chen’s Plate is all about living life as balanced and positive as possible. I will be sharing plenty of delicious healthy recipes, daily life posts, some of my favorite things and much, much more.
