Cookie dough. For. Breakfast. Snack. Dessert. Count me in!

Cookies are an “all the time” type of food which makes cookie dough an “all the time” type of food too. Did you eat a savory breakfast and then want something to satisfy your sweet tooth? More accurately, grab one of these chocolate coated banana cookie dough bites to satisfy all your cravings.

These banana cookie dough bites are made with only 7 basic ingredients and require no baking at all. These ingredients are commonly used in my recipes and should be simple and easy to find. Making these beautiful banana cookie dough bites should be easy too, so let’s get rolling (literally!)

Ingredients used in banana cookie dough bites

Chocolate coated banana cookie dough bites are an easy, seven-ingredient recipe. Most of these items are probably already in your pantry, especially if you have a big sweet tooth or love to bake like me!

Here’s everything you’ll need to make your delicious healthier dessert:

  • Banana

  • Coconut flour

  • Almond butter

  • Maple syrup

  • Almond flour

  • Vanilla

  • Mini chocolate chips

  • That’s it! Told you it was so easy 🙂

The tools you’ll need to make banana cookie dough bites

There are only few items you’ll need for your healthy dessert. So easy to make and very little clean up.

  • First, you’ll need a mixing bowl and some sort of stirring utensil, such as a spatula or spoon.

  • You’ll need one more microwave safe bowl and a fork for easy dipping.

  • Grab a non stick baking tray or plate that the cookie dough balls can chill on (literally.)

Again, that’s it! So easy to make and very little clean up.

How to make healthy banana cookie dough bites

Start by combining the mashed banana, almond butter, vanilla, and maple syrup in the bowl and mix it well. Make sure this mixture is nice and smooth.

Add in the almond flour and coconut flour next and start mixing. Once the dough starts to look cumbly, add in the chocolate chips and continue mixing.

Towards the end you will have to use your hands to mix the dough and create a nice, smooth dough ball. You can leave as is and enjoy as amazing safe to eat cookie dough or start rolling into bite sized balls for this recipe!

Roll the dough into about 12 evenly sized cookie dough balls and let sit in the fridge to firm up.

While the dough balls are cooling in the fridge or freezer, melt the chocolate in your second bowl until it’s nice and smooth. Use your fork to gently roll each ball in the melted chocolate and place on your non stick baking sheet or plate. The chocolate should start to harden around each ball as your cookie dough balls are cold!

All done! You can sprinkle a little sea salt on each ball before the chocolate fully hardens and enjoy 🙂

A healthier banana cookie dough recipe

Every single ingredient used to make healthy banana cookie dough bites was hand selected to create the healthiest dessert possible. Together, these ingredients create a flavor that is unmatched!

Almond butter

I often use almond butter in place of peanut butter, both for the nutrients and the taste. Almond butter contains healthy amounts of copper, phosphorus, and magnesium.

Maple syrup

By now, you’ve probably seen me mention maple syrup once or twice. It’s just the best all-natural sweetener I’ve ever tried! It tastes delicious and doesn’t include nearly as much sugar as processed white sugar.

Almond flour
When compared to all-purpose flour, almond flour is far more nutrient-rich. In fact, this type of flour contains protein, fiber, calcium, and iron.

Chocolate chips

When choosing my chocolate, I like to go for all-natural brands like hu kitchen chocolate chunks or enjoy life foods. By going with an organic, all-natural brand, you’re able to reduce the amount of preservatives and artificial ingredients present in your dessert.

Banana cookie dough recipe ingredient swap options

If you find yourself wanting to mix and match the ingredients in this recipe, you may be interested in these ideas!

  • Almond butter: Almond butter can be swapped with cashew or peanut butter. SunButter, a popular nut-free butter will also work. Note: Changing the nut butter used may alter the final flavor.

  • Maple syrup: If you don’t like maple syrup, you can use molasses or honey in its place.

  • Chocolate chips: The chocolate chips used in this recipe don’t have to be dairy free dark chocolate! You can also use milk chocolate, or, for something a little different, white chocolate! Just note that swapping this chocolate may make this recipe no longer dairy free.

Banana cookie dough bite recipe add-ins

If you’re in the mood for something more than just banana chocolate chip cookie dough bites, feel empowered to add in some fun ingredients. This list is short, but know that the add-ins are basically endless and can be changed as you see fit.

  • chopped nuts

  • coconut flakes

  • sea salt

  • sprinkles

  • dried fruit
