Frosting Filled Chocolate Muffins

I love frosting and I love chocolate and I love muffins so I combined them into one for one of my all time favorite recipes. Hope y’all like it as much as I do! Happy baking friends 🙂

Frosting Filled Chocolate Muffins

Gluten free, dairy free, and refined sugar free

Servings: 8 muffins


Muffin Batter:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1/2 cup brown rice flour
  • 1/2 cup dairy free yogurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/3 cup melted chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp applesauce
  • 2 tbsp cacao powder
  • pinch of sea salt


  • 1 cup mashed sweet potato
  • 1/4 cup dairy free cream cheese
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup almond butter


  • Make the muffin butter by combining all wet ingredients first. Mix well to break apart any clumps
  • Add in the dry ingredients and stir as you add to keep the flour from sticking together
  • Using a lined or non stick muffin tin, pour about two to three tbsp batter into 8 containers
  • Make the frosting by mixing together all the frosting ingredients super well. Feel free to use a blender to get a smooth frosting
  • Add 1 tbsp frosting into the center of each one. Try to keep the frosting just in the center
  • Add another tbsp or two of batter on top of the frosting. You may need a little extra on each one to cover up the frosting filling
  • Bake the muffins for about 40 minutes at 350 degrees
  • Let them cool and add more frosting on top! Enjoy 🙂
