These Super Fudgy Brownies are the best healthy fudgy brownie recipe ever. Made using almond flour, cocoa powder, and no refined sugar – they are gluten free, dairy free, and still the fudgiest brownies ever! This recipe uses minimal ingredients and is full of dairy free m&m’s to give the best added crunch with even more chocolate flavor.

On the hunt for the fudgiest brownies

Gluten free recipes have a bad rep. Whenever I tell anyone that I bake gluten free and dairy free recipes, they also assume that means taste free. The assume the texture is probably dry, really dense, or just off from their original favorite sweet recipe.

That’s exactly why I have been on the hunt for the best, fudgiest brownie recipe I wanted a recipe that you could eat and have no idea that it was actually gluten free. Imagine biting into the best dense and rich brownie that has the perfect consistency and is most likely dripping with chocolate… Well, that’s exactly what you have here.

I have tested this recipe so many times. I have gone through so many textures of brownies, so many flavors, add ins, and toppings. After using all the chocolatey ingredients left in my pantry, I believe I have achieved the best fudgy brownie recipe that is also gluten and dairy free too. I promise, no one is going to believe that this recipe is healthier than their usual brownie recipe, trust me!

What makes these brownies paleo?

These brownies are paleo because they are completely dairy free, refined sugar free, and gluten free! All of the things on the paleo diet that you can’t have.

But don’t let that deter you….I fed these to not one single person following the paleo diet and they all determined that they were the best brownies they ever had. These people may have been my family, so probably a little biased, but my brothers are ruthless when it comes to taste tests and they wouldn’t lie if they hated them…

If you would have told me when I was a kid that I could eat healthy brownies one day, I would have been the happiest.

What are in these super fudgy brownies?

  • Coconut Sugar

  • Maple

  • Eggs

  • Applesauce

  • Vanilla

  • Almond Flour

  • Cocoa Powder

  • Baking Soda

  • Sea Salt

  • Chocolate Chips/ Unreal Gems (aka: dairy free m&ms)

That’s it! Ten basic ingredients to make the best fudgy brownies. Just one bowl, one spoon, and about an hour and you got yourself a tray! Top these bad boys with whatever you like to customize the flavor and texture to your own taste buds.

How to make super fudgy brownies

These brownies are super easy to make!

Start by prepping your 8×8 brownie dish. Line your dish with parchment paper and set it to the side. Preheat your oven to 350 F.

In one bowl, mix together your wet ingredients to start the batter. These ingredients are: egg, maple syrup, applesauce, and vanilla. Mix super well and break apart any clumps.

Add in the dry (coconut sugar, almond flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and sea salt) and mix well. This batter should resemble your normal brownie batter! Thick, but still easy to mix.

Optional: mix in chocolate chips or m&ms into the batter and make sure to evenly distribute.

Pour the batter into your lined baking dish and smooth out the top. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips or m&ms right on top.

Bake for about an hour to achieve the perfectly baked brownie. Keep an eye out for any burning!
