The perfect fall treat

One of my all time favorite types of recipes to create are the single serve kind. If you haven’t learned by now, I’m a huge sweets gal and I love to indulge in at least one or two sweets everyday… maybe more. That’s why I love creating these single serving recipes because I can make just one for myself when I’m craving it and enjoy what I want when I want it 🙂

I love how simple and easy single serve recipes are. The list of ingredients are always pretty simple and the process of baking is just as easy too. Grab a cup of hot coffee or tea and let’s get to creating this autumn treat.

I have such a wide variety of single serve treats ranging from chocolate cake to birthday sprinkles and even brownies. I had yet to create something apple flavored with a hint of cinnamon that just makes you think of Fall. Since Fall is my favorite season, I knew I had to fix this issue right away and spend some time in the kitchen creating.

After just one hour in the kitchen, I tested and retested the perfect single serve apple crumble. This apples are perfectly soft and sweet and the topping is the right amount of crumble. Just add a scoop or two of vanilla ice cream and you’re all set to go. Enjoy!

Tools needed to make this recipe

To create this single serve recipe, you’ll need a few kitchen tools. Below you’ll find a complete list of tools to prepare for easy baking. Just gather all your tools and let’s get cooking!

  • Frying pan (medium sized)
  • Heat safe stirring utensil
  • Cutting tool
  • Small oven safe dish
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Measuring tools

For measuring, you’ll need the following sizes: 1/2 cup, 1 tbsp, 1/2 tbsp, 1/4 tsp. That’s it!

How to make single serve apple crumble

Prep your apple by chopping into small chunks and placing inside your small mixing bowl. Add in your coconut oil, honey, and cinnamon and mix well to evenly coat the apples.

Heat up your frying pan on a medium heat and saute the apples so that they become soft and golden brown. This should take about five to six minutes.

While the apples are cooking, use the same small bowl and combine all the crumble ingredients and mix well. The crumble should be on the wetter side. Trust me, it bakes perfectly.

In your small oven safe dish, pour the apples in first and flatten (see image 1 below.) Then, add your crumble layer on top and flatten (see image 2 below.)

Bake in the oven at 350 for about 40 minutes or until the top layer is nice and golden brown.

Let it cool, top with vegan vanilla ice cream, and enjoy!

A healthier recipe for apple crumble

In this recipe you will find a number of healthier baking ingredients. All of these were chosen to keep this recipe gluten free and dairy free along with providing extra nutrients when possible.

Coconut Oil

I love to use coconut oil when I’m cooking up something sweet on the pan. Coconut oil has better nutritional content than vegetable or canola oil and works really well with almost all my recipes. You can also use avocado oil here if you don’t have coconut oil!

Honey

When it comes to adding just a touch of sweetness to my recipes, I love using honey or maple syrup. For this recipe, I opted for honey as apples and honey just go so well together. I find that using either of these two sweeteners is a great way to achieve a sweet flavor in baking without having to use a lot of white sugar.

Almond Flour

My go-to gluten free baking flour. It’s a healthier alternative to all-purpose flour and keeps this recipe gluten free!

Other single serve recipes to try
